Challenges to Making Housing Happen
If so many of us agree that YES, we want people to be able to work and live in Southwest Florida, then what's getting in the way to Make Housing Happen? Well, it's complicated. A lot of players are in the mix—all with different needs, including local government, builders, and the public. We're all going to have to work together to understand each other more and do our part to learn what's real and what's not.
Local Government
City and county officials and staff who want to make a difference but are sometimes stuck with outdated rules and regulations
Builders
Builders and their investors who need streamlined processes and approvals to keep costs down so they can pass those savings along to the renter or buyer
Public
And there’s all of us—those of us who love living here and need people to work here—but we worry about anything changing around us.

We’re a volunteer task force powered by SWFL Inc., the region’s only five-star Chamber of Commerce as awarded by the US Chamber of Commerce. SWFL Inc. represents over 4,400 businesses and their over 8,000 employees in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties in Southwest Florida.
With the help of our community, we can make this complicated issue a little simpler, and bring people together to influence decisions that make housing happen faster.
